My wife was doing a work class thing during the day, so left to my own devices I decided to catch a movie she didn't want to see: Murder on the Orient Express. While there, I thought, hey, I could use some food and they have some new flatbread pizza things here, so why not? Sure, movie theater pizza is often not great and always overpriced, but AMC is touting this as fancy and good. The posters made it look pretty good, so I took the plunge. How did it go? Well, after only a few minutes, they gave a pizza in a rectangular box and I took it to my seat. Once there, I opened it and saw this pizza log looking thing staring back at me:

One thing I am seeing more often and I love is the connection of legitimate restaurants and food establishments to movie theaters. This place was connected to a Cinemark Theater and we got to order the pizza and take it into the movie. The price was slightly higher than a standalone place (except the drinks, those were still movie theater pricing), but not terrible, and we got to have a legit meal while watching the movie. Mi Pi is yet another one of those tell us what you want on a pizza and we'll make it front of you and then run it through a really hot oven that cooks it fast....(more)

Generally speaking, the wife usually just get a soda or sometimes nothing at all when we go to the movies, so I am not able to review movie theater pizza that often. From a lifetime of experience, that seems like not a bad thing - movie theater pizza has historically been not great. Though that trend has started to reverse itself lately with various chains offering some premium branded pizza that is overpriced (as are all things at theaters) but pretty good. Ever since a fateful day in the mid to late 80s when my dad said, "Whatever you want" and I got my first pepperoni pizza, pizza has been my favorite food. And that is exactly how I think pizza is best - pepperoni and cheese. Sure, some other toppings are fine from time to time, but for my money, I'll take extra pepperoni.
