Can a good keto pizza be done?, Mar 5, 2020

Location: 13455 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX - wholesomeeatingllc.com/

My wife has started trying out the keto lifestyle recently, so by request we went to a keto kitchen type place near her work for lunch for her "not on her birthday birthday lunch." This is obviously a place I would never choose to go on my, not being on keto myself, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. The place was super small with just a few tables - it was obviously set up for a lot of takeout and the offerings were lots of breath and muffins and all that type of stuff. The place was not just keto, but also had gluten-free, paleo, and vegan options, so ...(more)

Best pizza in San Antonio

Well, maybe not best, but a good list, Jan 26, 2020

A little over three months ago we moved to San Antonio and I've been working on trying new pizza places ever since. The current list as of today that I can recall is as follows:

Urban Bricks
Pizza Patron
Dough Pizzeria
Stout Brewing Company
Peter Piper Pizza
Zios Italian Kitchen
Papa John's (the new garlic crust pizza)
Santiokos Casa Blanca movie theater
Whole Foods
Little Caesar's
DoubleDave's Pizzaworks
Pieology

Only one of those places, Dough, is featured in the link below, though Stout definitely should be. But this list will be helpful when looking for places to go in the future. I...(more)

REVIEW: Dough Pizzeria

High end authentic style place, Jan 19, 2020

Location: 6989 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX - www.doughpizzeria.com/

A coworker of mine made some pizza place suggestions after I mentioned that pizza is my thing and Dough was one of those places. We were already planning a trip there and then my wife's brother got a gift card to the place for Christmas. How convenient! What wasn't convenient was the location - there are two in town and neither are particularly close to us, so we had to work it out for a time when we would be in that area anyway. We got there not long after it opened and yet there were still a decent amount of people there. It is a nice place, not too fancy, with a n...(more)

REVIEW: Peter Piper Pizza

Can all you can eat buffet pizza actually be good?, Jan 16, 2020

Location: 8250 Marbach Rd, San Antonio, TX - www.peterpiperpizza.com

I had never heard of this place before moving to Texas, but that makes sense since it is only in San Antonio and two other nearby cities. Investigation revealed that it is a place similar to CiCi's, where for some amount around $8-9 you can eat all of the pizza that you can possibly stuff into your face in one visit. Whereas CiCi's is super no-frills, this place was kid-centric, with games and distractions for the little ones. It did have some TVs around and one had ESPN on it, so I sat in view of that. As is usual for places like this, the type of pizza you most...(more)

REVIEW: Whole Foods

A cleaner by the slice option, Jan 5, 2020

Location: 18403 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX - www.wholefoodsmarket.com

We try to eat clean and natural/organic when we can, and so Whole Foods is a place we stop by fairly often for groceries. When that coincides with needing to eat, I'll often get a couple of slices of pizza while I am there. Getting an entire pizza is totally unreasonable, price-wise, but a couple of slices usually runs about 6 bucks which is not bad and totally filling enough. The biggest problem Whole Foods runs into is volume - it is a low volume pizza seller, yet it wants to have several types on hand for people to buy whenever so the pizza tends to not be f...(more)

Pizzamancer

Ever since a fateful day in the mid to late 80s when my dad said, "Whatever you want" and I got my first pepperoni pizza, pizza has been my favorite food. And that is exactly how I think pizza is best - pepperoni and cheese. Sure, some other toppings are fine from time to time, but for my money, I'll take extra pepperoni.
